Gareth Edwards British, b. 1960
The composition of this painting started out as a description of St.Michaels Mount seen alongside the Penzance to Paddington Great Western Railway line that runs in between the cliff of Penzance and the sea in Mounts Bay.
As the painting developed in the studio it became more poetic, more "European Riviera "as I thought about the PZ to Paddington " Riviera " night train and then also Turner"s travels ( the Blue Rigi) and his Wind, Steam, Rain painting all played a part in the painting's final phases. A poetic reverie of art, poetry and tourism.
