Fraser Taylor British, b. 1960
This body of work, Figure-ground, was made in Fraser Taylor's Glasgow
studio during lockdown in the autumn of 2020. Lockdown allowed time
for him to revisit work that he made in the 80s when the figure was
pronounced and line had graphic importance. looking back enabled him
to determine how to go forward. The surface explores the relationship
between the figure and the background. Forms and shapes were extracted
from a series of drawings made in 2019 of figures clustered together
on the east shore of Loch Fyne at Strathlachlan.
